WORLD ARMY

COMBINING REFERENCES FROM CONCEPTS AS DIVERSE AS THE MILITARY WORLD AND ANCIENT JAPANESE BORO TECHNIQUES, 11BYBBS INTRODUCES A COLLECTION THAT STANDS APART IN IT’S TEXTURES, TECHNIQUES, FABRICS AND PATTERNS.

RESEARCH ON CAMOUFLAGE PATTERNS AND INTERNATIONAL MILITARY HISTORY LED US TO MAKE OUR OWN CONTRIBUTION TO THIS WORLD. BY JUXTAPOSING CAMOUFLAGE DESIGNS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, WE DEVELOPED OUR OWN CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN, MERGING VASTLY DIFFERENT TIME FRAMES AND POLITICAL BACKGROUNDS, WITH THE AIM OF MAKING A UNIVERSAL CAMOUFLAGE THAT UNITES COUNTRIES AND CULTURES WITH A PEACEFUL PURPOSE.

CAMOUFLAGE GRAPHIC ELEMENTS ARE DECONTEXTUALIZED AND APPLIED INDIVIDUALLY, THUS FORMING A NEW IDENTITY, UTILIZING THE TECHNIQUES OF SCREEN PRINTING, EMBROIDERY AND PATCHES APPLIED IN APPLIQUÉ.

USING HIGH TEMPERATURE COATINGS LAYERED OVER GREEN AND BROWN TONES, WE DEVELOPED AN IRREGULAR SPLATTERED TEXTURE SIMILAR TO THE ORGANIC PATTERNS IN CAMOUFLAGE DESIGN.
GARMENTS ARE GIVEN ADDED VALUE AND SUBSTANCE THROUGH OUR CHARACTERISTIC FOCUS ON TREATMENTS. COATINGS, WASHES, AND DYES AIM TO ELEVATE STANDARD COTTONS FABRICS TO ANOTHER LEVEL.

REFERENCING ANCIENT JAPANESE BORO, WE CREATED A SERIES OF BOLD SYMBOLS THAT EXPRESS STRENGTH, INSPIRED BY TRADITIONAL JAPANESE GRAPHICS. SIMPLE RUNNING-STITCH EMBROIDERIES REMINISCENT OF SASHIKO ARE ANOTHER THROUGH LINE OF THE COLLECTION.

ARTWORK THAT PLAYS WITH CONTRASTING PHOTOGRAPHIC TEXTURES IS APPLIED AS WOVEN PATCHES AND A WIDE SCREEN PRINT, A NOD TO PUNK AND HEAVY METAL AESTHETICS.

GRAPHIC COMPOSITIONS SERVE TO REMIX THESE DISTANT INFLUENCES, USING DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES TO CREATE VARIATIONS ON THE THEMES OF THE SEASON.

A LINEUP OF NEW STYLES PROVIDE A FRESH PERSPECTIVE WITH NEW SILHOUETTES, WHILE VETTED PATTERNS CONTRIBUTE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE COLLECTION AND IT’S EXTENSIVE RANGE OF STYLES. A WIDE VARIETY OF FABRICS ARE USED, WITH CASHMERE AND JAPANESE SELVEDGE DENIM TAKING CENTER STAGE. GREEN AND BROWN CAMOUFLAGE PATTERNS ARE THE HIGHLIGHT, HEATHER GREY AND A TOUCH OF ORANGE ROUND OUT THE PALETTE OF THE SEASON.

LONG TERM COLLABORATORS AGAIN LEND THEIR TECHNICAL STRENGTH TO THE LINE. OUR COLLABORATION WITH ORTLIEB OFFERS A FULL RANGE OF ACCESSORIES, FROM A FIRST-AID KIT TO A LARGE TRAVEL TROLLEY. A SNAPBACK CAP COLLECTION WITH NEW ERA, FEATURES INTERCHANGEABLE BRIM DESIGNS. LASTLY, FOLLOWING LAST WINTER’S CAMPAIGN, WE AGAIN JOIN FORCES WITH THE GERMAN MANUFACTURER SEIL MARSHALL FOR A BOOT COLLECTION, THIS TIME TREATED WITH HANDCRAFTED TEXTURES.

BATALLÓN

11BYBBS looks to latino gang attitude and aesthetic, along with a focus on marine and navy imagery to inform the SS16 collection.

The inspired chromatic choices of black, white, and navy underpin the collection, understanding navy as a tone of black, interpreted through semi-raw denim and black over-dyed navy garments.

Holes are a common thread throughout the collection, as an analogy to bullet hole textures. The holes are expressed in a variety of techniques including laser cut, 3D knit, and hand embroidery. Grommets are placed into the garments as a reference to marine uniforms, forming holes again where applied.

Gold embroidery is elaborated upon as a deconstructed adaptation of marine dress trimming, providing graphic textures. A two middle finger art piece represents the 11 gang sign, which is printed and perforated as a positional graphic throughout the collection.

As with every season, the fabric research is deep and thorough. Rare Japanese denim and indigo dyed fabrics feature prominently, along with a variety of technical materials, ranging from extra light to rigid, emphasize contrasting textures.

Collaborations are led by the bag collection with the German producer Ortlieb, and caps with New Era Headwear.
